Takedown Red Sabre Modding / Mapping / Walkthrough
« Last post by carlosflorez87 on February 15, 2016, 09:34:08 PM »
Hello everyone,

I would like to know the minimum required elements to get a level running inside the game via TATDMM, also if possible a short walkthrough. I'm thinking something by this, just by guessing:

I would supose that the minimum elements should be a BSP for the floor (do I need to configure collition or something?), a PlayerStart (do I have to apply some tweaks or config?) and a light to actually see the scene.

After the map is saved and the "Build All" button applied, I guess I should follow the instructions on using TATDMM (creating .txt file and placing it in the correct folder, along with the .umap on its correct folder too (for my .txt file I'm copy/pasting the example from the instructions and replacing wherever 'TA_Test' appears for a "MY_MAP".

Apart from this short guide, is some additional configuration needed? Am I missing something? I'm trying to run a very simple map but can't get it done. Appreciate the help, thanks!

SWAT 3 General Discussion / Faulty Nvidia Drivers with Swat 3
« Last post by Slippery_Jim on September 21, 2015, 09:05:54 PM »
After a lot of testing I have discovered that the lastest Nvidia drivers are incompatible with Swat 3 on Windows 7. If you revert back to version 353.62 you will once again get good frame rates. If you play Metal Gear Solid 5, Mad Max, Ashes of Singularity, or Killing Floor 2 you won't want to revert since they contain "game-ready" drivers.

Breakdown of recent drivers:

355.98 Sept 22, 2015 - bad frame rate
355.82 August 31, 2015 - bad frame rate
355.60 August 13, 2015 - bad frame rate
353.62 July 29, 2015 - good frame rate
353.30 June 22, 2015 - good frame rate
353.06 May 31, 2015 - good frame rate
352.86 May 18, 2015 - good frame rate
350.12 April 13, 2015 - good frame rate
347.88 March 17, 2015 - good frame rate
347.52 February 10, 2015 - good frame rate
347.25 January 22, 2015 - good frame rate
347.09 - bad frame rate
344.75 - bad frame rate
344.48 - bad frame rate
344.11 - good frame rate

You can help us to get a fixed driver by posting in the Nvida forums or by filling out a short bug report:

Takedown Red Sabre General Discussion / Re: Takedown still buggy?

I would say a majority of the bugs got fixed but the AI is still quite unfair, I know you can mess with a .ini file to tweak them but did not find out till recently and the same devs are working on Epsilon right now which seems more promising since they have gone indie and no pressure from a publisher to push it out.

Should be getting some Epsilon Gameplay footage any day now based on posts from the devs on the official forums.

Have they improved Takedown since the original reviews that I have read?

I see that the game is on sale for $1 at the Humble Bundle store's end of summer sale.  Is the game worth picking up or is the AI as dreadful as the reviews say.

PS:  if you act quickly they are giving away Stealth Inc 2 on Steam for free until August 31.

Found your site while looking up reference pictures of Swat 3 maps, remaking Hotel Ventura for this game:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/222880/

Insurgency, Tactical shooter with many great features and game-modes, will upload some pictures soon.

Look forward to it! We have not really looked into Insurgency we played a few games when it first came out still need to go back and check out the "Hunt" Mode.

I'm all for seeing SWAT 3 maps remade in other games, can't say I've really come across any so far, I thought Raven Shield might have got a few but seen none so far.

I myself have thought about messing with making a SWAT map for Insurgency or just in Hammer in general since it seems like you could port a map to any Source game but I'm so use to how Unreal Engine it would take awhile for me to get use to Hammer again and its such a pain to get Static Meshes into Source in comparison to Unreal.

Looking forward to seeing some images in the future :)

E3 came with the announcement that a new title in the Rainbow Six series is on it's way. The new game is to be called Rainbow Six Siege and it looks like it will be available on PC, PS4 and XBox One. We already have a few videos up on in the news section of the main site if you have not seen it already. It is only in the Pre-Alpha stage and already throws up a few new features to the tactical genre. Some criticism is already floating around about the ability to revive team mates, but at this stage with the current state of tactical shooters this may be exactly what we are waiting for.
