SWAT 3 Modding / Mapping / Weapon Information
« on: February 03, 2014, 01:43:41 PM »
Whilst researching SWAT 3 for the main site I came across a link that weapon modelers/modders may find interesting. It shows the weapons available in SWAT 3 and pictures of their real life equivalent.

We have added a section covering SWAT 3 on the main website and will shortly be adding more downloads for the game, in the form of missions and mods. This will happen as we test them, with the objective of being as comprehensive as possible.

Takedown Red Sabre Modding / Mapping / What We Know So Far
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:36:39 PM »
The guys over at Serellan have given out some information to help out modder/mappers in advance of the mod tool release. The community over on the official Serellan forums has also chipped in ,So in no particular order here goes.

-The best version of UDK to use to aid in a smoother transition to Takedown is

Version: 9505 Changelist: 1174198
February 2012 UDK Beta

-When modeling assets for the game, Takedown is using the centimeter scale: 1cm = 1 unit in your modeling software. (so ideally you will set your modeling software to cm units - make sure your exporter (.FBX) is set to centimeters also)

- Officer model height for Takedown is 183cm (fully upright) which has been confirmed to equate to 177cm in the walking stance and 138 crouched. Also WoLvErInE has worked out a 56cm width.

- For door dimensions WoLvErInE suggests 245H x 144W. Where as Markn (Serellan) gave us a door portal measurement of 256H x 160W without the door or frame. This would suggest a door frame of 11cm thickness at the top and 8cm thickness for the two side jambs. You could use 8cm all around which would aid with snapping to the grid in UDK.

If you have any more information to add, please do so.

Tactical Ape / What Makes A Tactical Game.
« on: January 31, 2014, 07:54:20 AM »
As a site we are going to be including more content soon, and this will involve covering more tactical based games. We know what we like and what we consider a tactical approach, but we would love to know your opinions.

Some of the things we consider that establish a tactical shooter.

Teamwork, in other words Co-operative missions.
Realistic Weaponry
Use of Tactical Aids
Communication Systems

Here are a few we consider non tactical.

Jumping and still being able to shoot accurately.
Respawns.
Radars (In most cases)

What draws you into a tactical game and what infuriates you?

With the news that Takedown Red Sabre has now pass the microsoft certification process, there is only the waiting left to do. Will you be getting the Xbox version if you already have the PC one. Or have you been waiting for this from the start?
